Happy
Labor Day!
The Reidland Guard marched in today's
parade. Thanks to all the parents who helped out and our bus driver who managed
to get us out of a tight spot. Seventeen blocks is a long way for an old man
but the kids didn't seem any the worse for the wear. I am looking forward to
this weekend when the band will get to show off for the home crowd at the
Reidland Day parade on Saturday and then on to our first competition at
Madisonville North Hopkins. I hope to see all of the parents come out for these
events.
Thanks to Eddie
Hendrickson for the great photos of the band at the Paducah Labor Day
Parade. Check them out here.
Also take a look a last years group in the archive.
August 28, 2009
Our men put up a
valiant effort but went down to Lone Oak 63 to 20. The score does not reflect
the effort of our team. Compared to last years match, this group of Greyhounds
is a new breed. I am looking forward to an exciting year.
The Reidland Guard displayed the
2009 show at half time and helped to pump up the crowd in pep band. With our
first contest only two weeks away, I am excited about what our kids can do.
2009 Band Camp

Masters of Summer Music Games
WHAT A RUSH!!!
The boosters
returned in the wee hours Saturday morning from the Drum Corps International
Masters of Summer Music Games in Murfreesboro Tennessee. 38 of this years 45
member Reidland Guard Marching Band were in attendance as well as 23 parents
and guests. Despite traffic and a little bus trouble, the group was able to
experience some of the finest marching corps in the country. At times the
stadium shook with the raw power of percussion and brass and other times the
performance was delicate and emotional. Our students were amazed and inspired by
the marching precision and musical presentation. Special thanks to those who
rode the bus with the kids and to our bus drivers for the safe trip. After
spending 13 hours with your kids, I can say that there is no finer group and I
look forward to a great marching season.
